Our First Home!

Hey Everyone!

So we bite the bullet, jumped in, took the leap of faith...anyway you want to say it we bought our first home. Trying to buy a home in the suburbs of New York City has been to say the least, difficult. Home prices are crazy and neighborhoods and schools vary very much from town to town. My husband and I both grew up in the area so we both respectively thought our own hometowns were the ideal place to raise a family. After spending years in an apartment in hubby's hometown and two years in a condo in my hometown we were still indecisive and at odds. At the end of the day prices made our final decision. By moving further from city you get more for your money (and by further I mean 15 minutes!). So we settled on Fairfield CT, it is a beautiful college beach town. Has a bit of the hustle and bustle of a city that DH loves. A great downtown with restaurants, shopping and the best public library I have ever been in, and for me the most important the schools are fabulous. It is such a young, vibrant community, we are so thrilled to be apart of it!

A quick peak at Fairfield!

So after much searching we settled on a charming cape cod on a quiet street one block from the elementary school. We could not be more in love. Yes there is a lot of work to be done but this we know is our forever home!

So here it is our happy little home...pre warn these are the pictures direct from our realtor! I own none of this furniture and did not pick any paint colors (well except the living room which I kinda love!)

By far our favorite part of the house is the backyard, we can picture BBQ's, parties and lots of playing. A playset it the first thing on our list for spring!

So for now I will share with you my current favorite and least favorite parts of the new house! We still have so much to do! But we have gotten some things up and decorated!

Favorite!

Our seating area in front of the fireplace. I love how the chairs and rug worked out together! And the blocks are reversible for the Christmas season, an awesome Etsy find!

Least Favorite

Our Kitchen, the hideous yellow is now gone and the cabinet bases have been primed and painted. All we have left is doors to paint and be rehung. Hopefully I will have an updated picture by the weekend! All I can say is I am sick of paper plates and take-out!

Tomorrow I can't wait to share my finished gallery wall in the living room hint it involves my favorite designer Rifle Paper Co.!

Happy Wednesday!
xoxo
Katie
